Booting Windows 8.1 to Desktop by default

For users who are more familiar with working in the desktop mode/interface of windows, rather than the UI front screen, you can actually configure Windows 8.1 to boot directly to the start screen. Thus avoiding the tile click to go to desktop.

This is a simple process of “right clicking” in the task bar of the desktop and taking the Properties option, to open the following dialogue window, for Taskbar & Navigation properties

You’ll need to click on the Navigation tab (shown in default view above). In the Start Screen section of the panel box, simple check the
“When I sign in or close all applications on a screen, got to the desktop instead of Start “ option.

Click the Apply and presto, next time you sign in or close all applications you’re always at the desktop.
